Five walks cover almost everything guests ask us about at Victoria Square Apartments: Kurrawa Beach in 6 minutes, Broadbeach Mall in 2, The Star in 12, Pacific Fair in 14, and the quietest patrolled sand in Surfers Paradise in about 25. This Surfers Paradise walking map starts at our front door and never needs the car.
How close is Kurrawa Beach on foot?
Distance: 6 minutes walk from Victoria Square Apartments
Directions: Head down Victoria Avenue toward the ocean, cross Surf Parade at The Oasis, then follow the path through Kurrawa Park; the sand opens up straight ahead.
Hours: The beach never closes and is patrolled year-round; Kurrawa Surf Club behind the dune runs its cafe from 6am and its pizzeria through to 9pm daily.
Kurrawa is the big, wide beach that carries Broadbeach’s name, and it’s the first walk most guests make. The park behind it has shade trees, barbecues and grass for the kids, and the surf club upstairs does bistro lunch from 11.30am and dinner from 5.30pm. Guests keep mentioning two things in reviews: the ocean view from the club’s deck and the generous portions that come out fast. It suits everyone, but early risers get the best of it, because sunrise over this stretch of the Pacific is worth the alarm.
Victoria Avenue and Broadbeach Mall
Distance: 2 minutes walk from Victoria Square Apartments
Directions: Turn toward the ocean from our driveway; the pedestrian strip begins where Victoria Avenue meets the dining blocks around Surf Parade.
Hours: Each venue sets its own; the Broadbeach Tavern at The Oasis end runs its bistro 11.30am to 9pm every day, and the cafes start pouring coffee from early morning.
This is the everyday walk, the one you’ll do twice a day by the end of your stay. Victoria Avenue and the surrounding blocks hold the suburb’s cafe strip, with alfresco tables that shift from flat whites in the morning to wine in the evening. The G:link tram at Broadbeach North station is five minutes on foot from here, which turns the whole coastline into an easy day trip. It suits slow mornings, first-day orientation walks and anyone whose holiday runs on good coffee.
Where are the quiet blocks on the Surfers Paradise walking map?
Distance: About 25 minutes walk north along the beachfront path
Directions: Join the oceanfront path at Kurrawa Park and keep the water on your right; the towers thin out past North Broadbeach, and the path reaches Garfield Terrace at the southern edge of Surfers Paradise.
Hours: BMD Northcliffe Surf Club at 51 Garfield Terrace serves breakfast 7am to 10.30am, lunch from 11am and dinner 5pm to 9pm, with the bar open from 10am.
These southern blocks are the quiet Surfers of this post’s title. The stretch between North Broadbeach and Northcliffe is mostly residential towers and open sand, walked by joggers at dawn and swimmers before work, and the surf club at Garfield Terrace makes a natural turnaround point with a full breakfast menu. Cavill Avenue sits a further ten minutes north when you want the bright lights, so you can choose your version of Surfers Paradise on any given morning. It suits couples and early risers chasing an empty beach.
Can you walk to The Star from Victoria Square?
Distance: 12 minutes walk from Victoria Square Apartments
Directions: Follow Victoria Avenue away from the beach, cross the Gold Coast Highway at the lights, then take Casino Drive over the bridge onto Broadbeach Island.
Hours: The Star Gold Coast is open around the clock; restaurant and theatre times vary by venue.
The casino resort is closer than most guests expect, and the walk is flat and lit the whole way, which matters more on the way home than on the way there. Inside you’ll find the theatre, a line-up of restaurants from casual to fine dining, and bars that carry the night as long as you want it carried. We’ve had guests walk over for one show and come home three hours later than planned. It suits date nights and anyone who’d rather not think about parking.
How far is Pacific Fair on foot?
Distance: 14 minutes walk from Victoria Square Apartments
Directions: Take Victoria Avenue to the Gold Coast Highway lights, then follow Hooker Boulevard past the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre; the centre’s entrance is on the left.
Hours: Pacific Fair trades from 9am to 5.30pm daily, with current hours listed on the centre’s site.
Pacific Fair is the Gold Coast’s flagship shopping centre, and its open-air precincts, water features and resort landscaping make it a genuinely pleasant place to spend a wet or too-hot afternoon. Department stores, international fashion and a big dining line-up sit under one roof, and school-holiday programmes keep younger kids occupied. Our tip for the walk home: Broadbeach South tram station sits beside the centre, and the G:link has you back at Broadbeach North in a couple of minutes when the shopping bags win. It suits families and anyone waiting out a summer downpour.
Walking map FAQs
Is the walk from Victoria Square Apartments to the beach pram friendly?
Yes. The whole route is flat, sealed footpath from our driveway on Victoria Avenue to the sand at Kurrawa Park, with kerb ramps at every crossing. It takes about six minutes at a stroll, and the beachfront path north is just as easy going for prams and wheelchairs.
Is Kurrawa Beach patrolled all year?
Yes. Kurrawa is one of the Gold Coast’s flagship patrolled beaches, with lifeguards setting the flags daily year-round and Kurrawa Surf Club right on the dune behind the sand. Swim between the flags and you’re in the safest spot on this stretch of coast.
Do you need a car for a Broadbeach stay?
Most of our guests park once and walk for the rest of their stay. The beach, dining precinct, The Star and Pacific Fair all sit within a 15 minute walk of Victoria Square Apartments, and the G:link tram at Broadbeach North covers everything further north.
How long is the walk to Cavill Avenue?
About 35 minutes one way along the beachfront path, all of it beside the water. It’s one of the best flat walks on the coast. If the group fades on the way back, the G:link runs from Cavill Avenue station to Broadbeach North every few minutes.
Every one of these walks starts and ends at our front door, which is the point of staying at this end of the coast: the quiet blocks, the big beach and the bright lights are all on the same Surfers Paradise walking map.
